Lavoro, the first distributor of agricultural inputs in Latin America to have its shares listed on the Nasdaq, the American stock exchange, will be present at the 8th Women in Agriculture National Congress (CNMA), the sector’s main event with a program aimed to women in agribusiness. This is the company’s second consecutive year at the event, which takes place on October 25 and 26, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the Transamerica Expo Center, in São Paulo (SP).

“Agribusiness still is a sector with a strong male presence, but women, be they farmers, businesswomen or employees involved in agribusiness, are gaining more and more ground. I think that companies, in general, need to position themselves as supporters of this female force in the sector. Supporting events like this allows women to share their experiences and gain access to more investment, visibility and a voice,” says Karen Ramirez, VP of Human Resources at Lavoro.

The executive points out that as well as guaranteeing spaces for women’s voices in agriculture to be heard, companies also need to reinforce their internal policies aimed at women, complying with rules and making sure they are equal places for their employees.

“Today, around 33% of Lavoro’s workforce is made up of women. We comply with various rules of the ‘Emprega + Mulheres’ [Employs more Women] law, which recognizes good practices in promoting employability for women and establishes measures to prevent harassment and other forms of violence in the workplace. It’s important that we give opportunities to women who are looking to establish a career in agribusiness,” she says. This is Lavoro’s second year as a partner of the event, and it will have a special stand on site ready to welcome attendees. The 2022 edition of the CNMA brought together more than 2,500 participants from all over Brazil. One of the new features this year will be the Technical Hub, which, through the exchange of information, will present ways of speeding up production and boosting business and results.

“Lavoro believes that the CNMA is an extremely important event for the sector, as it fosters discussion about the inclusion of women in the agribusiness world, a segment of the economy that is increasingly strong and sustainable for those who want to bet on a solid and promising professional career,” she concludes.
