Lavoro, the largest distributor and redistributor of agricultural inputs in Latin America, is one of the sponsors of the International Tennis Championship, of the ATP Challenger Tour circuit, which takes place from October 2nd to 9th, in Campinas, São Paulo. The event reaches its 12th edition and is known for being one of the most traditional competitions in Brazil, bringing together athletes from different countries. The ATP will have a total prize pool of US$ 53.1 thousand and points counted for the athletes in the world ranking.

According to Monique Cardoso, Sustainability Manager at Lavoro and responsible for projects related to social responsibility and promotion of culture and sport, supporting initiatives such as the ATP Challenger is essential for the dissemination and democratization of the sport throughout Brazil.

“This big competition, which not only brings together athletes from different countries, but also leads Brazilian competitors in search of recognition, has already helped to leverage several talents. This stimulates demand for the sport, and Brazilian tennis is respected around the world”, adds Monique.

About the competition

Campinas ATP Challenger has consolidated itself as the main South American tour competition, a result achieved by the participants number that today are part of the top 100 and 50 best on the circuit. Traditionally, it brings together the main highlights of Brazilian tennis, players from the world’s top 100 and historic champions.

On the Brazilian side, six representatives are already confirmed: Felipe Meligeni Alves, Daniel Dutra da Silva, Matheus Pucinelli, Eduardo Ribeiro, Matheus Bueres and Thiago Wild. Daniel, 34, is having his best moment on the circuit and, recently, he competed in the US Open qualifying. Currently, the athlete ranks 214th on the world podium.

In addition to the ATP Challenger, Lavoro Group supports several social projects and cultural and sports initiatives throughout 2022

In 2022, Lavoro Group is allocating around BRL 1.85 million in funds from tax waivers via incentive laws to 22 cultural, sportive and social initiatives, such as municipal funds to support children, adolescents and the elderly, in addition to sponsoring sporting and cultural events.

The actions are taking place in approximately 30 Brazilian municipalities, located in the states of São Paulo, Paraná, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Rondônia and Goiás, regions in which Lavoro operates through its investees.

The initiatives are divided into four pillars:

  • CULTURE. Sponsorships include: two concerts and a drama festival; youth training programs in arts and photography, folklore and sustainability; research on regional food culture; and a film project.  
  • SPORT. Incentives are granted: inclusion and after-school activities for children and youth; a major sporting event; and a training plan for high-performance athletes.
  • CHILDHOOD AND YOUTH. Also are meant for research on child health, social inclusion and after school activities will be increased, and resources will be invested to strengthen public policies in education and assistance.
  • THE ELDERLY. They receive health care and promote community activities for the public with ages over 55 and homes for the elderly will both receive financial support.
